Few districts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have been witnessing good rains from the last couple of days. In fact, a few districts even recorded some hefty showers as well.

In the similar scenario, rain gods have blessed both the states again and both Kerala and Tamil Nadu have recorded some good rains in the last 24 hours as well. Though the pre-Monsoon showers spared Chennai as the downpour was mostly confined to the interior Tamil Nadu region.

As per Skymet Weather, a trough is seen running from Odisha to Interior Karnataka. Another trough is seen extending from the Vidarbha to South Interior Karnataka. Moreover, wind discontinuity is also seen from Comorin area to South Interior Karnataka across Tamil Nadu.

The combination of these weather systems has resulted in lashing Kerala and Tamil Nadu with some moderate to light showers. Isolated showers were also observed by a one or two regions. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, districts of Kerala like Kochi observed hefty rains of 57.4 mm, Punalur 21 mm, and Thiruvananthapuram recorded light rains of 8 mm.

During the similar time frame, few districts in Tamil Nadu like Kodaikanal recorded 31 mm of rains, Salem 27 mm, and Dharmapuri witnessed very light rainy spells of 3 mm.

However, the above-mentioned weather systems are expected to weaken in another 24 hours. And thus, the rain intensity is likely to reduce by tomorrow. Though, some moderate to heavy spells can be expected today as well.

Thereafter, rain intensity is once again likely to pick up the pace from May 6.
