The state government of Tamil Nadu has ordered the RTOs (Regional Transport Offices) that thorough inspection or fitness audit of all the school vehicles must be completed before 31st May.
As per the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicle (Regulation and control of school vehicles) Special acts-2012, a thorough inspection of all schools vehicles is undertaken every year during the summer vacation. The school vehicles in every district will be kept in a public place and several features - validity of fitness certificate, safety arrangements of equipment like seats, emergency exit (considering the safety of student children), painting of yellow colour for the vehicles - are thoroughly checked.
It is notified that all RTOs and vehicle inspectors must complete this special fitness checks before 31st May. The schools have been advised to bring their vehicle to public places. It is ordered that the vehicles which have not been inspected will not be allowed to operate after 1st June. So, all schools authorities are requested to put up their school vehicles for this test.
