In the recent years, our country has been showing tremendous developments in Science and Technology in various aspects such as science, architecture, natural science, medicine and lot more.
Don’t these require an acknowledgement and encouragement for the nation? And that is why we celebrate the National Technology Day today, the 11th of May 2017. This is annually celebrated, to note ever since the year 1999.
This very day holds a number of significance in technology in India. What are they? Know them below:
In India, 3 nuclear bombs were tested on 11th May 1998. These were for the Pakhran defense team in Rajasthan. After 2 days of this event, on 13th of May, there were two more testing of nuclear bomb done. India then called itself a full-fledged nuclear state, and joined as the 6th country in the list of topnotch nuclear powered countries.
The significance of this day doesn’t end with it. India marked yet another milestone in its science and technology history as Hansa, the very first at home aircraft designed and made in India was tested in Bangalore on the same day. Hansa is a 2-seater aviator plane used or fight training.
Well, there is one more - on the very same day, the test firing of Trishul (Short range missile made in India) was made too and it was a great success. The Defense Research and Development Organization had developed the missile as an integral part of Guided Missile Development Program.
The Technology Development Board of India, as a commemoration to this day and a way of expressing gratitude, awards all the contributors in the field of Science and Technology with national awards. This encourages making more such contributions to the field.
The schools and other educational institutions are requested to promote interest in science and technology among students and celebrate the National Day in their campuses. Let it bring political or economic growth to the country. Several science events and quizzes take place for expanding their horizons.
