Energy efficient products sale on the rise

The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation have tied up with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). The duo is providing appliances that are highly energy efficient. This is likely to widen its distribution network for tube lights, LED bulbs, fans, etc across the city in the following months. During a recent press meet, the idea of expansion was unveiled.
The idea is launched under the Ministry of Power for promoting energy efficient projects. To set up independent kiosks to sell energy-efficient LED bulbs, the EESL is providing space. Here, all energy efficient appliances such as LED bulbs, 5-star rated fans by Tangedco, etc are to be sold under Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for All (UJALA) scheme.
The regional manager of EESL, Tamil Nadu, T. Ramesh said that across Chennai, there are 60 sales and this will soon get expanded to the other states in the following months.
There were just 20 counters to start with. This is now expanded to 60 counters because of excellent response. Till the month of April, over 30,000 tube lights and LED bulbs, and 8,000 fans are sold.
The national programme manager of UJALA, Rajkumar Rakhra said these products are of topnotch quality and sold at affordable rates. The rates are almost one third of conventional pricing. They help a lot in saving energy.
