New Vice Chancellors appointed for Chennai University and Madurai Kamajar University

The state government of Tamil Nadu has released the order appointing 2 Vice Chancellors posts which remained vacant in 2 universities.

The state Minister for higher education, Anbazhagan, had a meeting with the press reporters today (Saturday, 27th May) regarding this. He informed that Chelladurai has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Madurai Kamarajar University and Duraiswamy has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Chennai University.

The state government has also moved a proposal to amend the Laws pertaining to the appointment of Vice Chancellors for universities.

The minister informed that with the above proposal, there will not be any delay in the appointments of Vice Chancellors for Universities.

In fact, the search for the new Vice Chancellor will commence even before 6 months when the present Vice Chancellor is scheduled to retire.

The process of the appointment of the Vice Chancellor for Anna University is in progress. The state governor is yet to decide and select. So, presently, there is no announcement regarding the appointment of a Vice Chancellor for Anna University. The appointment will be made within the next 3 to 4 months.
