All the tax payers, get your Aadhar card linked with the PAN number through an SMS based facility, says Income Tax Department.
Details about this were advertised on national dailies where the procedure to link the two unique identity numbers through SMS to the numbers 567678 or 56161 was explained.
People may also approach efiling website of the department and link the two identities. It further claims this as the method to link the two numbers to get seamless online income tax facilities.
In case of new PAN allotment, we can quote Aadhar into PAN application. The facility was launched early this month by the income tax department. With this, the Aadhar and Permanent Account Number can both be linked.
There is a new link added to the Home page of the department’s efiling website. In this link, the user has to punch the PAN number, Aadhar number and feed exactly the same name as in the Aadhar card.
The UIDAI department shall verify and confirm the linking. When there is minor mismatch in the name provided, Aadhar OTP will be sought for, the department says in its advisory to all individuals and taxpayers.
