Summer heat intensity comes down: Widespread rain from 4th June

With the onset of the southwest monsoon rainy season, there has been widespread rain throughout the country. The intensity of heat has also started reducing gradually.

The southwest monsoon commenced on 30th May. As the southwest wind from the Arabian Sea has intensified, it rained in the nearby coastal areas in Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa.

On the Bay of Bengal side also, there has been widespread rains in the rain-shielded areas such as Assam, Meghalaya, and Odisha.

In the 1st phase of the southwest monsoon rain season in Tamil Nadu. It has started raining in the districts of Nilgiri, Coimbatore, and Theni border areas. Winds with drizzle were blowing in other places.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are good prospects of widespread rain throughout Tamil Nadu from 4th June.

An official from the Chennai Meteorological Centre explained that there are prospects of rain with thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next 24 hours,

Chennai Metro will remain somewhat cloudy. No information regarding the likely intensity of heat.
