IIT entrance examination results released

The results of the JEE advanced conducted by IIT were released yesterday (Sunday, 11th June). Chandigarh student Sarvesh Mehtani has topped the all India list.

A pass in the JEE is required for admission to the central government technical institutions such as NIT, IISC, IIT, and IIIT. JEE consists of 2 phases – Main and Advanced.

The students who pass in the Main JEE can join NIT, IISC, and IIIT directly.  However, the students who wish to join IIT will have to write the 2nd Phase – Advanced – and pass. The students who pass the main test will be allowed to write the advanced.

The JEE advanced for this year was conducted on 21st May. 159540 students wrote the advanced JEE. The results were released yesterday. 50455 candidates have passed. Chandigarh student Sarvesh Mehtani secured the 1st rank.

Among the girls who wrote the test, Ramya (Madhapur, Telangana) has secured the 1st place.

23390 candidates in the open community cadre, 9041 candidates under the OBC group, 13312 candidates under the SC group, and 4710 candidates under ST group have passed JEE advanced.

Among the candidates who passed the JEE advanced, 86% are males (43318) and 14% are females (7137).

Arjun Bharath from Tamil Nadu tops the list of the candidates from Tamil Nadu. He has secured the 26th place in the All-India ranking. He studied +2 in the National Open School. Gautham from Tamil Nadu has scored 40th rank in All-India level.

There are 23 IITs in India. There are 10752 seats available for B.  Tech. Courses.

The admissions will be made as per the merit list according to JEE advanced results after counselling.
