Foot over-bridge to cross ECR soon

Soon, there is going to be a new foot over-bridge constructed near Thiruvanmiyur MRTS station. Pedestrians will be able to cross the East Coast Road to reach West Avenue bus stop with ease on this bridge. The Tamil Nadu Road Development Company is still in its phase of discussion about the project. This is aimed at aiding the commuters arriving at the MRTS station to switch to buses and vice-versa.
This facility will be parallel to the Rajiv Gandhi IT Expressway. In his note about this, a TNRDC official said the proposal for the project was sent in 2011 and there have been discussions in this regard for about a year. The corporation is requested to bear half of the project rate. Officials are however to take the final call about the precise spot of constructing the over bridge, he added.
According to sources, pedestrians who need to cross the ECR have got no foot over-bridge. The TNRDC has realized this absence of any such bridge and decided to construct one. There is increasing population of commuters from Tidel Park side of IT Expressway and MRTS station towards ECR. During peak hours, the commuting crowd slows down the traffic, the official said.
