CM announcement – smart classes to be set up in 3090 schools

A per the Act 110, the state Chief Minister E. Palanisamy made the announcements for the changes in the department of education.
Education
- Computer laboratories will be set up in high schools and higher secondary schools. A fund of Rs. 4347 Crores is allotted for this.
- A new building will be constructed for the Directorate of School Education in the name of MGR at a cost of Rs. 33 Crores.
- Separate buildings under the name of MGR will be constructed in schools.
- Smart classes will be set up in rural/village primary and secondary schools.
- Buildings with the name of MGR to be constructed in 43 government colleges. Rs. 210 Crores allotted.
- Rs. 39 crores allotted for improving infrastructure in schools.
- 268 new subjects to be introduced in the academic year 2017-18. 660 posts of professors to be set up for this purpose.
- 7 new Government Arts and Science Colleges, 3 Universities and member colleges to be started in the current academic year.
- A sports stadium to be set up in Kanchipuram at a cost of Rs. 15 Crores.
- A swimming pool will be constructed at the Nellai Manonmaniyam Sundaranar University Complex.
Other departments
- A new warehouse depot to be set up at a cost of Rs. 25 Crores in Madhavaram
- The compensation for employees in the department of forestry in the case of loss of life while in service, raised from Rs. 4 Lakhs to Rs. 10 Lakhs.
- Smaller trading loans from the cooperative banks increased from Rs. 10000 to Rs. 25000.
