Making a passenger friendly initiative, international passengers who depart from India will not have to fill the departure card or embarkation card, starting from 1st July, says a recent announcement by the ministry of external affairs.

Sources from the Chennai airport state that passengers will now be able to save time, as they need not fill the form. The details included in the card are name, travel date, name of flight, etc all of which are already present in the passport as well as visa. The passengers have been asking for a hassle-free experience in travel. Further, the card is in English which makes it difficult for the laborers to fill the form.

In March 2014, the arrival cards were waived off. Airport authorities claim this as a move to bring forth paperless traveling. It is to be noted that the change introduced is only for passengers who travel by air.
