Heavy traffic congestion is encountered frequently in front of the Chennai Central Station. The public face extreme hardship to move around this area. In fact, taxi/cabs are not allowed to enter inside the station.

In this situation, it was decided to set up a new entrance to the Central Station from the side of Wall Tax Road.

The Southern Railway Officials explained in this regard that the number of public gathering and leaving in this area has been increasing phenomenally every day. Crowds are teeming in the existing entrances all the time.

Hence, it was planned to provide another entrance to this busy Central Railway Station. Activities are in progress. The project is expected to be completed in another 3 to 6 months and then will be opened to the public.
