1.3 to 1.5 lakh people to be hired in 2017-18

Amidst all the layoffs in the Indian IT industry, there is going to be 1.3 to 1.5 lakh new recruits during the financial year 2017-18, according to Nasscom.
IT exports in the country are likely to increase by 7 to 8 percent in 2017-18, and in the domestic industry, the growth will be 10 to 11 percent. The industry as well as the employees are equally worried by layoffs in IT firms in India.
Apart from this, because of restrictions on H1-B visas as introduced by the Trump administration where IT professionals are now allowed to enter the US for work related reasons, and the other protectionist policies have altogether eroded prospects of firms.
There will be more recruits made this year, said Infosys, a leading industry player. According to the IT Ministry, the reason for layoff is not slowdown in the sector.
The layoff is due to performance related scrutiny and annual appraisals of employees.
