It is now possible for foreign tourists to book train tickets 360 ahead instead of the 120 days advance booking that is offered at present.
This facility shall be announced by the Indian Railways this week. Targeting to attract more foreigners and NRI travelers, the Indian railways is initiating ways to ease ticket booking for them.
It is to be noted that foreigners can only make 360 days advance train ticket booking in first AC, second AC, and executive class in mail express trains, and Shatabdi, Gatimaan, Rajdhani and Tajas. The facility is not available in other trains
However, foreigners would be allowed to book tickets only in first AC, second AC and executive class of mail express trains and in Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Gatimaan and Tejas trains 360 days in advance as the facility is not available for sleeper and third AC. Furthermore, foreigners cannot book train tickets with Suvidha trains that help last minute planners.
With this initiative, foreigners and NRI travelers can plan their travel in advance, says a senior official from the Railway Ministry.
The advance reservation period is extended from 120 days to 360 days for foreigners and NRIs. They can also book tickets using credit or debit cards without wanting to depend on travel agents.
