Mono Rail Project in Chennai at a cost of Rs. 6402 Crores

It is gathered that a monorail project is planned for Chennai Metro City in 2 corridors and covering a total distance of 43.48 km.
The 1st corridor will link Poonamallee, Porur, Vadapalani, and Kathipara covering a distance of 20.68 km. The project cost for this 1st corridor is estimated at Rs. 3267 Crores. The funds will be arranged through both public and private sectors.
The 2nd corridor links from Vandalur to Velachery covering a distance of 22.80 km. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 3135.63 Crores. The funds will be arranged on an international platform as per the policy statement from the department of transport.
