The expert committee has suggested a new pattern of question paper for the plus-1 board exam. This will contain a ‘field test’ before it gets approved for the final exam.

From the coming academic year 2017-18, plus-1 exams are converted into board exam, according to the state government’s initiative. This is intended to bring better focus towards academics in plus-1 without being lethargic about the subjects.

The government has hence announced a new exam pattern where the exam will be for a total of 600 marks. Each subject will be conducted for a maximum of 100 marks. Out of this 90 marks is for the written exam and 10 marks is for internal evaluation. Coming on to subjects that have practical exams, the total marks of written exam will be 70 and practical marks is 20 apart from internal marks.

The expert committee is headed by former director of government examinations, K. Devarajan. The State Council for Educational Research and Training had formed the council to outline the question paper pattern for plus-1 examination.

The new question paper pattern is submitted. This will be tested using model question papers with the plus-1 students and then it will be finalized.
