Aadhar card not mandatory for flight booking

The central ministry of home has informed the standing committee of the parliament that Aadhar cards are not mandatory for booking flight tickets.
Earlier the news had been floating that Aadhar card would be mandatory for booking flight tickets. In this situation, the Home Secretary of the central government, Rajiv Gowda informed that there are no such plans.
Some MPs had raised the issue that as service centres maintained by the private sector are used for registering Aadhar details, there are chances of misuse and hence become a safety/security issue. The Home Ministry responded to this question that though the registration counters are maintained by the private sector, the software used has strong safety and protection features leaving absolutely no scope for any misuse.
