Prices of eggplant, raw banana and drumstick up

With the start of the sacred Tamil calendar month of Aadi during which most families avoid non-vegetarian items, the prices of vegetables like eggplant (brinjal), raw banana, some greens and drumstick has gone up double.

Ujala eggplant is sold at Rs. 80 per kg. Striped eggplant is sold at Rs. 60 to Rs. 70 per kg.

Last week, the raw banana was sold at Rs. 7 per piece. Now, it is being sold at Rs. 12 to Rs. 15 per piece.

Stemmed-green (keerai thandu in Tamil), which was sold at Rs, 5 per piece, is now sold at Rs. 10 per piece. The price of drumstick has gone up from Rs. 30 per kg to Rs. 55 per kg.

The prices of other vegetables big onion, cabbage, and potato have also gone up and they are sold at Rs. 25 per kg.
