Test runs are being conducted for the trains to be run from the Tambaram Railway Station Terminus. The new terminus has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 33.28 Crores.
The construction commenced in 2013 and was completed recently. It is ready for the public service. Modern restaurants, trading/commercial complexes, and vehicle parking facility have all been provided in this new terminus.
In this stage, it has been decided to run 2-weekend trains on a trial basis from the New Railway terminus at Tambaram.
Accordingly, the Chennai - Guwahati Express train will start at 8.45 PM from Platform No. 8 from the Tambaram Railway terminus.
The Railway Administration has taken a decision to run 12 trains operating from Egmore to the Northern state to be operated from the new Tambaram Railway terminus.
