The CMDA (Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority) has taken up the project of the expansion of the Chennai Metro City from the last week.

The state minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan made an announcement regarding this project in the Legislative Assembly on 3rd July. It is expected that this task would improve the existing infrastructure of the city as well as provide a solution to the acute housing shortage.

It is further expected that the expansion of the Chennai Metro City would help the real estate business growth. The boundary of the prosperous existing part of the south Chennai boundary will be extended further. The boundary of the West Chennai will also extend up to Arakkonam.

It may also be expected that the real estate business in West Chennai will also grow. The housing facilities will also improve.

In the prevailing situation, South Chennai was the best growing real estate industry. Meanwhile, over the last 10 years, multi-storeyed apartments and houses were constructed in Ambattur, Avadi, and Thirumazhisai in West Chennai.

As compared to the current real estate business in south Chennai, the trend of buying independent houses is on the rise in the West Chennai localities like Avadi and Thiruninravur

As the Chennai Metro City is slated to expand up to Arakkonam in Vellore District, it is expected that there will be more demand for buying houses in the above localities.

It is important this project is taken up and completed as scheduled following the announcement. This expansion will ensure infrastructure enhancement in several new urban areas.

Further, this expansion project will provide an opportunity for the people who come to settle in Chennai due to various reasons to encounter the welcome opportunities to help them shape their lives as per their plans.
