Some of the most commonly used items that are excluded from compulsorily obtaining e-permits for transportation under GST regime are LPG, kerosene, jewelry and currency.
On July 1, the GST regime was rolled out. It mandates getting permission from e-way bills to transport goods consignment that are worth above Rs 50,000 in order to check tax evasion.
According to a senior finance ministry official, the GST council conducted a meeting on August 5 and approved the list of 153 items all of which are excluded from the need for e-way bills.
These items include bovine animals, swine and fish, veggies and fruits, fresh milk, honey, seeds, cereals, flour, and others. Movement of betel leaves, toddy that are non-alcoholic, khadi, raw silk, earthen pot, clay lamps, hearing aids, puja samagri, etc. The others are human hair, semen including condoms and frozen semen, contraceptives, etc.
The official further added that cooking gas of LPG used for household needs and kerosene available for sale with the public distribution system are also exempted from mandatory e-permits.
Postal baggage and currency, jewelry and used personal and household effects are the others included in it. When goods are transported using non-motorized conveyance system, e-way bill is also not needed.
