To proceed with this, you need a valid internet banking login id, login password and transaction password. Upon logging into your bank’s site, you can gain access to www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in where you can generate EVC, and it will get displayed in the screen for you, and will also be sent to the mobile number registered.
With this EVC produced, you can easily e-verify your tax return. This method will be of great help for all NRIs who are distressed with physical ITR-Vs in case if they lack in having digital signatures.
Through Aadhar OTP:
Tax return verification is also possible through Aadhar via e-filing site
www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. Link the Aadhar card with this government site and get this in turn linked with your PAN in this government website. Once Aadhar is authenticated and linked, your registered mobile number will be sent with an OTP. This can be used for verifying tax return. Remember, this OTP will be valid only for 10 minutes.
According to government instructions, tax payers need to mention the Aadhar number in tax return. This however cannot escape you from e-verification of tax returning. The return should be e-verified through any one of the means.
Through ATM:
In all the banks that are registered with the income tax department to offer this service, EVC can be generated via ATM machines. For this, one has to login to their bank account using ATM and opt for ‘Generate EVC for IT return filing’. Once done, the bank system will forward a request for EVC from the IT department website. This EVC will be sent to the registered mobile number of tax payer for use on tax return verification. For those who are unable to login to internet banking due to few hassles, ATM will come handy for generating EVC.
Through Income Tax Filing Site:
For tax payers whose gross total income is below Rs 5 lakh, there is no refund needed. It is possible to generate EVC through government’s tax filing site directly. The EVC will be sent to the tax payer’s registered mamail id and mobile number. This is a restricted option according to the risk assessment for the taxpayer. If this method is unsuccessful, make use of other methods.
Physical ITR-V:
When all the above methods are a failure, you may opt for a new system. It is possible to verify using ITR-V in the old ways: printing, signing, and mailing through speed post. Remember that these documents need to be sent within 120 days of completing e-filing process.
