Do you book your air tickets through an agent? Beware as you may be fooled with an e-ticket. When CISF nabs you, the trouble will double and you may get detained.

As per IGI Airport sources, a new threat to the Delhi airport security is bogus e-tickets. This is troubling the CISF officials in figuring out the differences between real and fake e-tickets.

About 95 percent cases of passengers enter the airport with e-tickets. The airline counter then identifies the bogus ones or with suspicious activities, they alert the staff.

There are a few cases where the ticket booking agent defrauds the passenger and there are others where passengers defraud by entering the airline with cancelled tickets.

IGI airport has also filed a similar case where an agent had duped a passenger for over Rs 1 lakh; agent is still absconding. Recently, a 25 year old passenger had to deport from the Air Arabia flight. He had grabbed the entry to the airport based on the e-ticket printout, his passport and ID proofs. On showing his tickets at airline counter, the entry was denied because the ticket was not a genuine one. Neither was his name in the passenger list. He reached his ticketing agent upon the denial and an agent representative arrived with the real ticket.

The passenger then reached the IGI airport and got entry denied again. He then got arrested when he shared the whereabouts of the ticketing agent. He was then arrested under the sections 420, 468, 471 of Indian Penal Code.
