Happy Ganesh Chathurthi 2017

Posted on: 25/Aug/2017 10:05:13 AM
Today, the total of India will celebrate Ganesh Chathurthi. On this day, devotees will be bringing home Lord Ganesha idol and worship the lord for 10 long days.

On the last day, the 5th September, devotees will be immersing the idol in water indicating the departure of the physical embodiment i.e. the deity is believed to get back to the Mount Kailasha. Usually, the immersion is done on the 11th day. A few would prefer immersing the idol within just 1.5 days, the 3rd day, 5th day or 7th day.

The lord is believed to bring home all the success, luck, prosperity and goodness to the devotees. So, they bring home the lord so that he would bless them and make their life happier.

The practice of immersing the idol into waterbodies is also a reminder of the transitory nature of all our lives where our physical form gets diluted after the elements of death.

Today being Ganesh Chathurthi, people across India must be super-excited and preparing for the festival. We, at Live Chennai wish you all to enjoy the magnificent day and thrive in life, worshiping the lord on this special day!
