In the Hindu mythology, Navagrahas (9 planets) are worshipped and deities are set in several temples throughout the country. Out of these 9 grahas, Guru changes from one zodiac symbol (known as rasi) to another once a year.
Accordingly. Guru is shifting today (Saturday, 2nd September) from Kanni Rasi (Virgo) to Thulam Rasi (Libra). On this special occasion, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department is organizing to conduct special prayers in all the temples of Lord Guru throughout Tamil Nadu.
Special pooja, prayers, abhishekhams, and yagas are being organised in several temples dedicated to Lord Guru offering Darshan to his devotees – Aalangudi in Thiruvarur districts where he sits facing South, Padi, Chennai where he sits facing West, Pattamangalam, Sivagangai district where he faces East, and Thiruvotriyur, Chennai where he faces North.
