Prospects of widespread rains in Tamil Nadu

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that with the cyclonic format developed in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Kanyakumari region and the thermal convection, there are prospects of rain with thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
An official explained in this regard that the cyclonic format which formed in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Southwest Bay of Bengal between Sri Lanka and Mannar Bay has drifted and moved towards Kanyakumari. Due to this and the thermal convection phenomenon, there are prospects of rain with thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next 24 hours.
Chennai Metro will remain cloudy. There are prospects of rain with thunder in a few places.
