Chennai Meteorological Centre - Rain to persist in Tamil Nadu

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has warned that the heavy rains will persist in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry today as well.
The Southwest monsoon has intensified in Tamil Nadu over the last few days. This has led to widespread heavy rain in the state.
Presently, there is a low-pressure zone developed and spread from South Chattisgarh to South Tamil Nadu. Further, the cyclonic format which had stabilised in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the Kanyakumari region has now stabilised over the South Andhra and the nearby region.
Due to the above 2 developments, there are strong prospects of widespread rains in the next 24 hours in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. There may be heavy rains in 1 or 2 places.
The Chennai Metro City will remain cloudy. It may rain with thunder in a few places in the evening or night.
