In the recent days, Apple products are gaining immense popularity. Whichever is the functionality found special in other competing products, Apple will shell out any sum to obtain it. It is the same case with speedy charging as well. In its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models and the iPhone X model, it had introduces fast charging feature. However, the finer details are tucked away here, as users need to spend an extra of Rs 6,500 if they need to enjoy the new feature.
The special charger and the cable cost this much because the fast charger don’t come along with the phone models iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone X.
Shell out extra
For fast charging of these three phone models, users will have to get at least 1 high-power charger and USB-C to lightning cable. The cheapest of all the Apple chargers that support fast charging is the 29W charger that is priced Rs 5,500 in India.
The rate of USB-C to Lighting cable is Rs 1,200. So, on the whole, to charge iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X at lightning speed, one will have to shell out an extra of Rs 6,500 in addition to their expense of Rs 64,000 or Rs 89,000 for buying the handsets iPhone 8 and iPhone X respectively.
OnePlus, Motorola and others have the same too
Apple has always been involved in making more money out of its accessories. You may think of the dongles and lack of ports from Apple recently. Apart from the fast-charging charger, there is OnePlus Dash Charging Qualcomm Quick Charge, Motorola Turbo Power, etc that are already making the rounds in the past 2 years. Coming on to Apple, the feature is made an optional one!
Chargers and cables come intact from other mobile makers
In case of Android phones, all the phones that boast of the fast-charging feature will handle it over with the fast charger and needed cable to charge. With OnePlus 5, it is the same case, and for most of the Moto models, it is the same too where the phones cost of the range Rs 20,000. These days, the entry-level Android phones available for rate of the range Rs 10,000 are also available with high-power charging facility. Most of the other phone models also come together with a large charger delivering superfast power to phones.
Unable to enjoy the feature even if you spend a lakh
So, for iPhone users, this seems quite unfair. About Rs 1 lakh will be the amount to be spent on iPhone X. And they will still not be able to make use of the promised feature of the phone without shelling out extra for the charger and cable. What most buyers expect is for Apple to bundle the charger and cable along with the other inclusions with the handset – that’s a fair plea anyway.
There is also an argument that sending an extra of whopping Rs 6000 to Rs 7000 is not going to be ideal for users even after buying the handset. So, if companies like Belkin start coming up with cheaper chargers for these iPhone sets, it will be of great support.
While almost all the handset makers including Apple want their buyers to charge the handsets with the approved first-party chargers, the idea of including their own handset while delivering the phone is logical and reasonable.
So, if you have plans to buy iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 P Plus or iPhone X models, you may have to spend extra of Rs 6,000. The bundle charger you get with the handset will be slower in charging, and you can’t experience the feature of fast charging with the iPhone.
Whether to buy the charger extra or not is up to your choice!
