As the city got the first underground metro lines connecting Nehru Park and Thirumangalam, the CMRL helpline is continuously receiving calls. Commuters make 3 times more calls to get help to board trains and switch between corridors.
The metro rail officials helpline number is 1860 425 1515. This has been getting continuous calls of the range 20 per day ever since the underground line got operational. Commuters make most calls to enquire about ticket fares, boarding train and arriving at their destination properly. In fact, commuters dial to the helpline even before they reach the nearest station. All the information they need are provided along with information about their mobile app, as it simplifies the entire process, said metro rail officials.
In fact, a few staff members receive calls enquiring train timing, frequency of train, smart cards, getting misplaced items, poor air-conditioning in train, etc.
While the average calls received was 5 to 6 per day earlier, the numbers have now substantially increased following the launch of underground line in May. An exclusive cell was set up to address the increased call flow. 2 working staff members are deployed in shift basis. They work between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. for attending calls.
