Mahindra & Mahindra Company introduced the driverless tractor yesterday (Tuesday, 19th September).
The Managing Director, Pavan Goenka, during his inaugural address, explained that the company has created a driverless tractor for the 1st ever a time in India. This was created in the Mahindra Research Centre located in Chennai.
It is possible to start and operate this tractor from a distance. It can also be stopped from a distance. The tractor has the sensors to detect any obstacles in front while moving. Once the borders of the land are entered in this driverless tractor, it will not move out of this assigned territory.
The tractor can plough the entire land in successive rows. It can be used for ploughing, spraying insecticides and other agricultural tasks.
There is no doubt that this introduction of the driverless tractor is going to be the forerunner of a great revolution. It will improve the working efficiency of the farmer while improving the yield as well.
The company introduced a new technology ‘Digisense’ last year. Incorporating this technology along with a new technology for driverless operation, the company has now created this new tractor. This will come up for sales throughout the country next year.
It is possible to link this technology with all Mahindra tractor models with capacities ranging from 20 HP to 100 HP. The company will incorporate this gradually and then put the new models for sales.
Once the sales in India is commenced, the company has plans to sell this in foreign countries including the USA and Japan.
