For all the workers and employees of state public sector including that of transport corporations and Tangedco, the Tamil Nadu government has announced to make bonus and ex-gratia payments for the year 2016-17.
A bonus amount of 8.33 percent and ex-gratia of 1.67 percent will be paid before 30th September for all the workers and employees who get paid more than Rs 4,300 and falling under Group C or D, regardless of their eligibility, reads an order from the finance secretary K Shanmugam.
With PSUs that make more bonus payment in addition to statutory minimum bonus as per the allocable surplus calculated according to the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, bonus of up to 20 percent is likely to be paid by 30th September.
When the bonus payable is lesser than 10 percent, the employee will get bonus and ex-gratia amount not more than 10 percent altogether. Proportionate bonus and ex-gratia shall be paid in case of employees who worked during a part of the year.
For workers and employees of TN Civil Supplies Corporation, TN Cooperative Milk Producers Federation, Poompuhar Shipping Corporation and plantation workers working in TN Tea Plantation Corporation Limited, TN Forest Plantation Corporation Limited and Arasu Rubber Corporation Limited, separate orders shall be issued similar to previous year orders.
