Deadline for linking Aadhar card extended

The central government has extended the deadline to link Aadhar card data with the various subsidies and welfare schemes up to 31st December.

However, this extension will be valid only for those who have not obtained their Aadhar cards yet.

The central government has been earnestly implementing the Aadhar Card system to provide unique identity number for every citizen. This activity is carried out by UIADI  (Unique Identification Authority of India).

In order to make it mandatory to obtain Aadhar card, the government took the measure to announce that Aadhar card will be mandatory to avail the various subsidies and the government welfare schemes.

Accordingly, linking Aadhar cards has been made mandatory for around 135 various schemes such as free LPG cooking gas cylinder, kerosene and fertilizer subsidies, Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee system, LPG cooking gas subsidy,  etc.

Further, the central government had earlier set the deadline for linking Aadhar card on 30th September.

In this scenario, there was an announcement released by the ministry of Electronics and Telecommunications.  According to this announcement, the deadline for linking Aadhar cards for the above has been extended up to 31st December.

The announcement further explains that this decision has been taken with a view that the maximum number of the citizens should avail the subsidies and welfare schemes offered by the central government. However, it has also mentioned that this extension is valid only for those who have not obtained their Aadhar cards.
