With the ensuing 4 successive holidays, both Chennai Central and Egmore Railway Stations are teeming with large crowds of passengers.
The 4 successive holidays are Friday 29th Sep - Aydha Pooja, Saturday, 30th Sep -Mohurrum, Sunday, 1st Oct and Gandhi Jayanthi – Monday, 2nd Oct.
Apart from the state and central governments, many private companies have also declared holidays for the above 4 days. The schools are already closed for quarterly vacation.
Thus, with teeming crowds of passengers visiting their native places, there have been unmanageable crowds since last 2 days at the Central and Egmore railway Stations. The crowd was, even more, yesterday (Wednesday, 27th September).
There has been an especially large rush in the unreserved 2nd Class coaches. The station was full of passengers leaving for other districts as well as other states. Howrah Coromandel Express, Sangamithra Express were full of the crowd even in the reserved compartments. The crowd level likely to increase even further today. So, it is better to leave at least an hour earlier than planned to reach the station for avoiding the crowd.
