According to a recent study made by BMJ Open Diabetes Research and Care, it is found that consuming bread following your meal can aid blood sugar level regulation and thus make you healthier.
The study
The study involved experimenting over 16 adults all of whom are type-2 diabetic. They were given meals with different kinds of carbs. The group consumed meals with high levels of protein, veggies and carbohydrates. However, two separate servings of carbohydrates were given – before meal and after meal on serving with proteins and veggies.
The study results found that consuming bread after meal can help in controlling blood sugar levels. When you eat carbs along with meal, your blood sugar levels may get affected. Hence, the way in which carbs affect your body completely relies on the time at which you consume them.
Weight gain is directly associated with increased insulin levels. So, after eating dal or subzi or salad. Keep tracking it for about one week and check whether this helps. There are further studies taking place in the subject too.
