British Council as a part of its UK-India Year of Culture is organising the play Half Breed by Soho Theatre and Talawa Theatre Company. Following its successful world premiere at Edinburgh Festival Fringe and its India premier in the Jagriti Theatre in Bangalore, Half Breed comes to Chennai on Friday 13 October in British Council at 4.00 p.m.

‘Half Breed’ is a semi – autobiographical comic drama about finding your voice and the meaning of friendship, written and performed by the exciting new British talent Natasha Marshall, winner of Alfred Fagon Award and Soho Young Writer’s award 2016. Half Breed, directed by Miranda Cromwell, is about friendship and what it means to be a real friend. Natasha combines a total of seven characters and uses spoken word poetry and physical theatre in the performance. This also tells the story of Jasmine, a young mixed-race woman who lives in a little village in the “west country” in the west of England, with dreams of becoming an actor and moving to the big city.

A dark comedy with a deeply sensitive heart, Half Breed will speak directly to new audiences; the story of a young girl from a disadvantaged background trying to break free from the failed ambitions of her small-town past. It was shortlisted for the Tony Craze Soho Young Writers award in 2016.
