Additional special buses to ply from today

In order to facilitate the public who visited their native places for the special occasion to celebrate Deepavali to return to their place of work, additional buses will be operating from today (18th October) to 22nd October.

On a single day yesterday (17th October, Tuesday), a total of 4463 buses were operated from Chennai – the regular 2275 buses and additional special 2188 buses.

Again, on a single day yesterday, over 2 lakh persons travelled to their native places from the 5 bus stations set up at Koyambedu, Tambaram Sanatorium, Anna Nagar, Little Mount (Saidapet), and Poonamallee.

For the return after celebrating Deepavali in the respective native places, as per yesterday;s records, 88353 persons throughout Tamil Nadu and 84048 persons (to Chennai) have reserved for their return journey in advance – having booked tickets on 18th October to 22nd October.

With this frenetic travel, the various transport corporations have earned Rs. 2.96 Crores.

Apart from this, over 148671 persons have made reservations from 13th October to 17th October (morning). The transport department has informed that it has earned a revenue of Rs. 4.96 Crores with this.
