The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre. S. Balachandran, informed that there are good prospects of early commence of the Northeast monsoon rainy season (which gives abundant rain in Tamil Nadu) to commence after 25th October.
He informed the press reporters that the depression zone, recently formed over the Bay of Bengal, will weaken and there are indications that the eastern winds will start blowing. So, there are good prospects of the Northeast monsoon season commencing in Tamil Nadu after 25th October.
At present, the depression zone recently formed over the central Bay of Bengal has intensified and stabilised. It is expected to move towards northwest after intensifying further. Because of this, there may be rain or rain with thunder in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
There may be mild rains in a few places in the Chennai Metro City.
