The National Skill Test is conducted in order to identify the smarter students and to encourage them by providing scholarship (financial educational assistance).
This test is conducted by NCERT (National Council for Educational Research and Development). The test will be conducted in the 1st Phase at the state level. The 2nd Phase at the national level will be conducted for the successful candidates in the 1st Phase.
In this situation, this year’s 1st Phase skill tests at the state level are scheduled to be conducted on 4th November. The test in the state of Tamil Nadu will be conducted by the Department of Examinations on behalf of NCERT.
An official from the department of government examinations disclosed that over 1.58 Lakhs students are set to write this skill test in the 1stPhase.
Around 1000 students are selected every year to avail the scholarship facility. They will be paid a monthly scholarship amount of Rs. 1250 till they complete +2. After that, when these students enter the graduation and post graduation courses, they will be given a monthly payment of Rs. 2000 as scholarship.
When the students undertake Ph. D., the University Grants Commission (UGC) undertakes the responsibility of proving the required financial assistance.
