400 ITIs get de-affiliated

In over 400 industrial training institutes, quality inspections were conducted where it was found that the industries do not have the needed requisite infrastructure or trainers to provide the needed vocational training.
 
The joint secretary in the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship, Mr. Rajesh Agarwal said nearly 400 of the total 13,000 it is de-affiliated.
 
These institutes are inspected and their infrastructure quality is analyzed, and the trainers are checked if they abide by the guidelines. When the ITIs do not comply with these terms, they are de-affiliated. Basically, an ITI has to abide by a few specific set of conditions, as per the National Council for Vocational Training.
 
He further added that the skill development ministry is avid about ITI quality standards to ensure that its quality standards are maintained. And self-grading of the institute are introduced too. Agarwal added that they are aiming at identifying the centers and institutes that are not on par with the quality standards, and will be chucked out of the entire system.
 
Over 36 percent of the total 7 million people are enrolled in different kinds of training programs. And these government training programs are conducted by industrial training institutes.
