TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation) has introduced a new facility to its customers. The electricity bills can be paid by credit or debit cards - swiping in the PoS (Point of Sales) devices kept in the TANGEDCO select offices.
This facility was inaugurated as a pilot project in the section of the Mylapore division and distribution office of the Chennai Central at Chennai yesterday (31st October). The Minister for electricity, P. Thangamani, informed that this facility will be subsequently introduced in all other section offices gradually.
The minister appealed to the public to avail this new facility of the cashless transaction at all collection counters.
Until now, the payment arrangement through credit cards was done only in the banks` card processing network devices. A transaction charge was collected at 0,75% of the bill amount for debit cards and 1.25% for the use of credit cards.
