Throughout Chennai the CMRL (Chennai Metro Rail Limited) is under taking several Projects. The Chennai Corporation obligated CMRL to monitor the heritage buildings which are under the circle of the CMRL Projects they have requested them to monitor the buildings. According to sources in the Corporation, the reluctance of CMRL to share data pertaining to building settlement, ground settlement, tilt, vibration measurement and water level has been allegedly due to the failure of the contractor to “install equipment to measure vibration on the heritage building.
CMRL is on its way for collection of several datas with the help of their Agencies. CMRL assessed the data for the protection of structural condition of Ripon Buildings and Victoria Public Hall, for instance, were assessed .the corporation officials said to the CMRL TO install an accelerometer along the height of the heritage buildings which will be usefull to generate data on vibrations caused to heritage buildings. said by an corporation officials.
