Chennai rains which had been wreaking havoc over the capital city of Tamil Nadu and resulted in waterlogging as well as flash flooding in several areas seem to have taken a break. During the last 24 hours, heavy Chennai rains did remain hidden and only light showers with isolated moderate spells were seen over the city.
In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Nungambakkam observatory witnessed a mere 13 mm of rainfall while the Meenambakkam observatory could only record single digit rains of 9 mm. However, other parts of Tamil Nadu did record heavy to very heavy rains where in three-digit rains of 106 m was also recorded in Parangipettai.
As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, moderate showers are expected to continue for the next 24 hours. In fact, the possibility of heavy showers cannot be ruled out over the region during this period.
However, the rain saga which has been worrying Chennaites is expected to come to an end soon. In fact, by tomorrow, rain will decrease to quite an extent as the cyclonic circulation which is over Sri Lanka coast and the trough of low which is lying over South Coast Tamil Nadu is expected to move south, away from Chennai.
Thus, after November 7, rainfall activity in Chennai is expected to significantly reduce and the residents of Chennai will get a massive relief from the ongoing weather conditions.
