A new 80-bed barracks is being constructed by the Southern Railways. This is for the Railway Protection Force personnel at the Moore Market Complex station in Chennai city.
These new barracks will comprise of a kitchen, a dining hall, facilities for recreation and gym. This will meet all housing troubles of the newly inducted RPF personnel in Chennai Railway Division.
In the past one year, over a thousand constables were inducted so as to strengthen the security force of Southern Railways. With enough number of barracks near railway station, it will be possible to mobilize RPF personnel at very short notice in emergency situations.
There are two gents barracks and a lady barrack in Chennai city. By January 2018, the new barracks are likely to be ready. The General Manager of Southern Railways, R.K. Kulshrestha viewed the construction of barracks yesterday.
