A grand preparation for the Karthigai Mahadeepam Festival

Total Expectancy of the Devotees
Tiruvannamalai is the famous pilgrimage hub for all the devotees of Lord Shiva and especially during the period of Mahadeepam in the end of the year lakhs of devotees gather to visit the Mahadeepam and offer their prayers. For this year 25 lakhs devotees are expected on a ten day festival from November 23 to December 2. The district administration of Tiruvannamalai is planning for the transportation and the sacred travel of Girivalam on an entire free cost for the people visiting for Mahadeepam.

According to the Collector K S Kandasamy, a separate body of members were arranged by the temple committee combined with the district administration office for devising a grand plan for easing the transport and lodging facilities for the devotees arranging 3,000 special buses and 9 trains along with free toilets, bathrooms and food courts.
 
Regulation of all the pilgrimage services
The special buses will take 7300 trips on the final two days of the festival. Even the Private Bus and Private School Management were incorporated for the free shuttle services during this festival. The fare of the Auto-rickshaw has been regulated as Rs 15 per two kilo meters.

There are 42 spots on the path of Girivalam which can be used for bathing and also free food courts sponsored by the many Annadhaanam Applicants combined with the temple association provide food for the devotees on this special occasion.
 
There are two cloakrooms near the bus stand for keeping the luggage safely for the long distant travelers. More than 40 health camps with ambulance facilities will be standing on the path for any health emergence or rectifications. A team dedicated to the cleanliness along the path of Girivalam will educate people how to keep the sacred path pure and divine.
