Chennai Rains to remain on backseat for at least 24 hours

Chennai rains had been quite heavy on the last day of November. Not only this, the month of December also began on a rainy note for the city of Chennai. These rains occurred due to the notorious Cyclone Ockhi which underwent several intensifications and is currently a very severe cyclonic storm.
Now the system has moved away from the South Indian region as well as the Lakshadweep Islands. Due to this, rainfall activity has significantly reduced over both the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Heavy rains also have taken a backseat over Lakshadweep Islands.
In fact, Chennai rains have also gone on the backseat and rains have disappeared in the past 24 hours. The last 24 hours saw no rainfall activity with both the observatories, Meenambakkam and Nungambakkam recording no rains at all.
Currently, the system has moved away which is why Chennai is expected to witness dry weather conditions for the next 24 hours. Thus, Chennai will see a dry day with cloudy sky conditions during some parts of the day.
However, rainfall activity is likely to commence again around December 6 and 7 since the weather system in Bay which has intensified into a well marked low is expected to undergo further intensification and move closer to Chennai.
