Registration of BS4 vehicles to be stopped after June 2020

The vehicles with BS4 (Bharat Stage 4) pollution control quality will not be taken for registration from June 2020.

Accordingly, the central government is planning to pass a new amendment to The Central Motor Vehicle Law.

The central government took a decision to change over directly from the present BS4 pollution control system to BS6 pollution control system in order to check and reduce the pollution caused by the smoke emission from these vehicles.

In this regard, the Central ministry of road transport of road transport and highways has prepared a new draft policy.

The policy states:

The vehicles with BS4 pollution control system manufactured before 1st April 2020 will not be registered after 30th June 2020.

In a similar procedure, the passenger carrying 4-wheeled vehicles with the BS4 system and the goods 4-wheeled vehicles with the BS4 system will not be registered after 30th September 2020.

The personnel related to this issue and the public are advised to inform their opinions/suggestions in this regard before 20th December 2017.

The draft policy states that after the receipt and analysis of the opinions/suggestions received, an official announcement will be released in the government journal.

Subsequently, this draft policy will be linked to the Motor Vehicles Act 1998.
