Most of the times Jaggery and Honey are recommended as a substitute for white sugar for Diabetic patients. The alternate sources for sweet is best remedy for replacing the main culprit white sugar as it is high in iron content. It also has many good organic features enhancing the energy levels of human bodies.

But the Jaggery contains a 65 to 80 percent of sucrose which can be unsafe for Diabetic patients. When consumed as a replacement for white sugar at high proportions on daily basis it may lead to an increase in Blood Sugar level of already diabetic individuals. It is very healthy for the people who don’t have any Sugar issues in their blood but the concern is only for those who are already affected by Blood Sugar effects in their lives.

In many ancient traditional and Ayurveda Jaggery is used for many ailments like low iron or high blood pressure and even for Asthma. But for Diabetic concerns it not recommended even in those pre historic references by Sidhas and Yogis.

Consuming Jaggery may lead to Sugar craving and the liver saves those extra sugar in our body as fat and sugar in the blood. This may cause kidney to react for the high sugar in blood leading to frequent urination. So taking Jaggery as a little add on for a single tea or coffee per day doesn’t make a big difference. But consuming it as a full replacement may cause adverse effects on diabetic patients.
