Chennai weather to remain dry and warm, humidity to persist

Posted on: 11/Dec/2017 9:53:46 AM
From the past one week, dry weather remained prevalent over the city of Chennai. Prior to this episode, heavy rains were recorded over the region for a couple of days in the wake of Cyclone Ockhi.

But this weather system moved towards Kerala and Lakshadweep, thence towards the Arabian Sea and finally, it recurved towards Gujarat region. As a consequence of this movement of the system away from Chennai, rains reduced considerably over the region, paving way for dry and humid weather conditions.

Besides this, a deep depression also formed over central Bay of Bengal, but, it remained away from Chennai. As of now, no major weather system is seen over and around the region. Moreover, no such system is foreseen to affect the weather over Chennai in terms of rains.

Hence, the weather conditions over Tamil Nadu including Chennai will remain dry and warm during the next 24 to 48 hours. Day maximums are most likely to settle around 32°C, while the night temperatures will be around 24°C.

The sky conditions will remain partly cloudy over Chennai and in the wake of southeasterly winds, the humidity will persist.

After the stretch of 24 to 48 hours, weathermen at Skymet Weather expect light rains around December 13 and 14 in some parts of the city.
