CBSE: Mark system will be adopted for Class 10, 12 board exams

The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that for the 10th and 12th standard Public Examinations scheduled in the coming March, mark system will be adopted.

Presently, CBSE follows the grade system. However, it has now announced that it will change over to the marks system from the coming Public Examinations for 10th and 12th standards during March 2018.

CBSE has further announced that the public examinations for 10th Standard will be compulsory henceforth.

The subjects of 10th Standard Public Examinations: Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English (Communication), and English (Language and literature).

The subjects of 12th Standard Public Examinations: Accountancy, Biology, Commerce, Chemistry, Economics, English, Hindi, Mathematics, and Physics.

Marks system will be adopted for both above. CBSE has informed that the details of the mark system can be seen on its website. The timetable for the Public Examinations would be released soon.

Another important news is that over 18000 schools throughout the country have been merged with CBSE. Out of this, 10678 schools have registered for 12th Standard Public Examinations. 638865 boys and 460026 girl students (A total of 1098891) have applied for March 2018 Public Examinations.

As compared to last year, there has been an increase of 2.82% in the strength of students. With an approximate total of 1067900 students, 621259 are boys and 446641 are girls.
