Today (Sunday, 17th December) is the occasion of Hanuman Jayanthi. As a part of the celebrations on this occasion, special pooja and Abhishekhams are being performed in all the Anjaneya temples in Tamil Nadu.
Lord Hanuman was born on a New Moon Day on the Tamil star ‘moolam’. His honours and valour are depicted not only in Ramayan where he performed a stellar role in locating Seetha but also in several other classic mythological epics.
Hanuman was an ultra-ardent devotee of Lord Rama in the Vaishnavite sect whereas he was also deemed as a part of Lord Siva in the Saivait sect.
According to mythology, Lord Hanuman had the capacity to rattle Lord Sani, who was known for rattling and harming others. It is a tradition for those affected by Lord Sani to worship Lord Hanuman.
As it is the trend to find Lord Vinayaka temples everywhere and anywhere all over India. Lord Hanuman has several dedicated temples in the Western Ghat from Kerala to Maharashtra.
The glory of Hanuman is well depicted and followed all over the country. Hanuman Jayanthi is thus celebrated with much fanfare today (17th December), Pooja with special Abhishekhams are being performed in all Anjaneya temples throughout Tamil Nadu.
